Discovery

The Cartographer's Creed

"A map is not drawn at a desk. It is walked into being, one horizon at a time."

The world does not hand you its names. Regions and hidden landmarks are revealed by going there - and the first time you do, the moment is recorded forever and counted toward your explorer's achievements.

Zones: the named regions

The map is divided into named zones - broad stretches of the world, each radiating from an anchor at its heart, so every hex belongs to the zone whose anchor lies nearest. Travel into a zone you have never set foot in and it is discovered: its name surfaces, and your tally of explored zones ticks up. Discovery is permanent; once a zone is on your map, it stays there.

There are nine zones in the world:

ZoneCharacter
Volcano ReachThe scorched heart of the map, under the volcano's glow.
Iceblade HighlandsThe cold northern uplands of the Iceblade.
Bamboo WoodsDense green groves of the Bamboo Federation.
Bengal ValleyThe warm river valley of the Bengal.
Madagasca CoastThe eastern shoreline and its tidal flats.
Savanna PlainsThe open southern grassland.
Swamp HollowLow wetland between water and firm ground.
Wildoria OutskirtsThe neutral land around the Free City.
Eastern SeaThe open water off the eastern edge.

Discovering every one of the nine is the Cartographer's milestone.

Hidden landmarks

Scattered across the zones are hidden landmarks - special places that stay masked until you stumble onto them. Pass through a landmark's hex on a journey and it is uncovered, its true name replacing the question mark it wore before. There are six to find:

LandmarkWhere
Emberwatch RidgeA scorched outcrop in Volcano Reach where old beacons once burned.
Frostpine HollowA hush of frost-rimed pines in the Iceblade Highlands.
Whispering GroveBamboo so dense the wind turns to whispers.
Tiger's RestA sun-warmed clearing where the Bengal tigers nap at dusk.
Sunken Shell CoveA tidal hollow on the Madagasca Coast, littered with shells.
Lone AcaciaA single ancient tree on the open savanna, a marker for every caravan.

Finding all six is the Landmark Hunter's milestone.

Explorer's achievements

Discovery feeds directly into Wildoria's Achievements engine, which grants every reward the game can give - coin, WLD, XP, reputation, items. The exploration ladder rewards both kinds of finding:

TierRegion discoveryLandmark discovery
FirstFirst Steps - your first regionCurious Traveler - your first landmark
ClimbingWayfarer - 3 regionsSightseer - 3 landmarks
SeasonedExplorer - 6 regionsLandmark Hunter - all landmarks
MasteryCartographer - every region

As you close in on a tier you also get progress pings - a quiet "3 / 9 regions" nudge - so you always know how far the next reward is. The unlock itself lands as an on-screen banner the moment it fires. The full notification pipeline is described in the engineering reference (ACHIEVEMENT_REALTIME_SYSTEM).

Where to track it

Discovery progress lives on your Achievements page, not on the map - the map's panel is for travelling, the achievements page is for the collection.
