Quest System

The Heart of Adventure

In Wildoria, quests are the primary engine for progression. Rather than a linear path, quests are divided into distinct categories that cater to different playstyles.

Quest Categories

Faction Quests

Faction Loyalty

Your loyalty to the Savages or Fasters is tested here.

  • Purpose: Increase Faction Reputation and unlock exclusive racial gear.
  • Structure: Often involves sabotaging the opposing faction or securing resources for your side.

Profession Quests

Jobs for the Working Class

Earn specialized currency and recipe unlocks through profession-specific quests:

  • Crafters: Bulk delivery orders or repair contracts.
  • Underworld: High-stakes heists or smuggling runs.
  • Handyskills: Gathering quotas for the city stockpile.

Main Story

The Narrative Backbone

Uncover the history of the Great Division and the city's secrets. Main story quests are long "Chains" where one event leads directly to another. These cannot be skipped!

Daily & Weekly Missions

Repeatable Content

Repeatable missions keep the economy moving:

  • Resets: Every 24 hours (Dailies) or every Tuesday (Weeklies).
  • Rewards: Consistent flow of Gold and Tokens.

Hidden Leads

Word on the Street

Not every quest is waiting on your map. Some are hidden until you hear of them. Talk to the right townsperson and the rumor becomes a marker you can follow. See Quest Mechanics → Word on the Street.

Mission Shapes

A quest's category (faction, profession, daily…) is who hands it to you. A quest's shape is what the city expects you to do with it. Two contracts on the same noticeboard can run on completely different clocks.

ShapeWin conditionFailure tone
Courierwalk a route, dice in your favorduty / contract breach
Huntbring back the countbounty unmet
Escortthe third party survivescharge in your custody fell
Heistslip out without writing your name downtheft on the books

The simulation engine recognizes each shape from the mission's configuration and routes the run accordingly. Same engine, same NPC pool - different shapes of victory. See Quest Mechanics → Mission Archetypes for the underlying machinery and the win-condition contracts.
