Inns and Rooms

At an inn or hotel you can rent a room. A room is the one place where the night cannot reach you, and the best place to recover your energy.

Not every town has an inn yet. Today the Panda capital has one, the Foothill Inn; the Bengal Tiger capital does not.

Renting a room

  • Be there. You check in in person: travel to the inn's hex first, then open it on the map and choose Rent room.
  • Pay per night. Rent is paid in coin, by the night. One night of rent covers one game day, about four real hours.
  • Rooms are limited. Each inn has a set number of rooms, and the map shows how many are free.
  • One room at a time. If you are checked in somewhere else, check out there first.
  • Opening hours. Some inns keep hours on the game clock; you cannot check in while they are closed.

You can check out early at any time. When your rent runs out, the stay simply ends.

Why rent a room

BenefitWhile you are inside your room
Shelter for the nightYou are safe from the night's damage, from thieves, and from patrols looking for wanted citizens.
Faster restEnergy refills three times faster than usual.

Both benefits need you to be inside the room. Renting a room and then walking off leaves you exposed again; the room is still yours until your rent runs out, so you can come back to it.
