Getting Started
Wildoria is in closed beta. The game you can play today is Phase One, in your web browser. The mobile game is Phase Two and is in closed testing.
This page is the short path through your first days. Each step links to the page that explains it in full.
Register
Create your account at wildoria.com and enter the citizenship code we send to your email. Your account becomes a citizen once the code is confirmed. If a friend sent you an invite link, register through it.
Your race and your town
During the closed beta every new citizen becomes a Bengal Tiger or a Panda, chosen at random when you register.
You do not start in the city. You wake up in your race's home town, and for Phase One that town is your home. You can visit other towns, and even the Free City of Wildoria, by bus, ferry or plane. What stays closed until your race's Departure Day is the rail line.
Follow the main story
The main story begins in your own town and walks you into your first trade on the very first day. The first seven main quests are open right away. After that, two new main quests open each day, so nobody finishes the story in one night.
Side quests and repeatable quests are not held to that pace. A quest can also keep running while you are away, only more slowly than when you play it yourself. See Quests and Race Based Quests.
Earn coin
Wildoria runs on coin, the only currency you need. You earn it by:
- Working your trade: a wage job (Delivery Guy or Farmer) pays for each shift, up to three paid shifts a day. Gathering and crafting professions earn from what you bring back and make.
- Finishing quests: most quests pay coin along with experience.
- Selling what you make: gathered and crafted goods can be sold to other players on the Marketplace.
See Coin for how your purse works.
Travel by ticket
Buses, ferries and planes link the towns. Every ride needs a ticket, bought with coin at a Ticket Office:
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| Bus | 60 coin |
| Ferry | 100 coin |
| Airplane | 450 coin |
| Private Jet | 1,200 coin |
The train to Wildoria does not run yet. Its line opens on the Departure Day of your race (see below). See The Transit Network.
Get indoors at night
Night runs from 21:00 to 02:59 on the game clock and ends at dawn (03:00). The game clock moves six times faster than real time, so a night lasts about one real hour.
Standing still does not keep you safe. At dawn, a character left out in the open on unsafe ground can lose health, a little more for each night in a row, and can be robbed of part of the coin they carry. A wanted character can also be caught by the watch. Being in a shelter, such as a rented room, protects you from all three as long as you stay inside it, and coin kept in the bank cannot be stolen. If your health runs out, you wake up in the nearest hospital. See Day Cycle.
Departure Day
The goal of Phase One is a seat on the train. Partway through the main story, the quest Ticket in Hand asks you to buy a train ticket at a Ticket Office and show it to your town's conductor. That puts your name on your race's departure list. The main story keeps going after that while you wait.
Every race has its own finish line. When enough of a race's citizens are on the list and the line is cleared to open, that race's citizens may board the train to Wildoria: that is the race's Departure Day. The races are racing each other, and the station shows where every race stands. See How the line opens.
