Reputation & Standing
"A power remembers. Every favour you do it and every wound you deal it is written in a ledger that opens the next time you knock at its gate."
Your relationship with each faction is measured as reputation - a running score that rises when you serve a power and falls when you cross it. Reputation decides how a faction's people, quests and rewards treat you, and it sits at the heart of where you are welcome in the world.
The eight tiers
Reputation runs along an eight-rung ladder, from outright enemy to honoured ally:
| Tier | Standing |
|---|---|
| Hated | An open enemy - expect hostility on sight. |
| Hostile | Unwelcome and watched. |
| Unfriendly | Tolerated, barely. |
| Neutral | The starting point - no love, no grudge. |
| Friendly | A known face in good standing. |
| Honored | A trusted ally with real privileges. |
| Revered | One of the faction's own. |
| Exalted | The highest honour a power bestows. |
Every citizen begins at Neutral with the powers and climbs (or falls) from there.
How standing blends across memberships
You are rarely loyal to a single banner. Wildoria measures your standing with a faction as a weighted blend of every membership you hold - your ties to allied and rival powers all colour how a given faction sees you. The number on the bar is this effective standing, not a single raw score, so a web of allegiances reads as one coherent reputation rather than a stack of disconnected meters.
Earning and losing it
Reputation moves through the things you do in the world:
- Quests and missions for a power raise your standing with it.
- Crimes and hostile acts against a power lower it.
- Every change is written to a permanent ledger, so your history with a faction is auditable down to the event that caused each shift.
When your standing crosses a tier boundary - up into Honored, say - the moment is announced on screen as a banner the instant it happens.
Left untended, reputation slowly decays toward Neutral over time. The powers neither hold a grudge nor a debt forever; only continued action keeps an extreme standing where it is.
What standing unlocks
Reputation is not a vanity number:
- Gated content - some missions and rewards require a minimum tier with their faction before they open to you.
- Faction rewards - higher tiers unlock standing-locked benefits from the power you have earned them with.
- The road - your standing colours how a faction's territory and watch treat you as you pass through. See Territory and The Roads and the Watch.
